Resin outlives most things. Help it.

Cured epoxy is tough, repairable and genuinely long-lived — but it has three weaknesses, and almost every damaged piece we see comes from one of them.

Clean with water, nothing else

A soft damp cloth and, if you must, a drop of dish soap. Never alcohol, acetone, glass cleaner or anything labelled 'polish' for furniture — they micro-etch the surface and the haze is permanent.

Keep it out of direct sun

Our resins are UV-stabilised, which slows yellowing — it doesn't stop it. A piece on a south-facing windowsill will shift over years in a way the same piece three metres inside never will.

Heat is the real enemy

Cured epoxy softens around 55°C. A hot mug on a coaster is fine; a pan straight off the hob is not. Never leave a piece in a parked car.

Tableware is wipe-only

Food-safe once fully cured, but never dishwasher — the combination of 70°C water and detergent will dull the surface in a single cycle.

Dust before you wipe

Grit dragged across a gloss surface is what creates fine scratches. Blow or brush the dust off first, then wipe.

Scratches are repairable

Unlike almost any other finish, resin can be sanded back and re-polished. Light scratches come out with 2000 grit and a polish; deeper ones we'll fix for you.

When something goes wrong

Most of it is fixable.

Resin is one of the only finishes you can sand back and restore. Before you write a piece off, send us a photograph.

That's almost always chemical etching from a cleaner. Wet-sand the area with 2000 then 3000 grit, and finish with a three-stage automotive compound. It will come back to full gloss — resin is one of the few finishes you can genuinely repair at home.

Check where it lives first. Prolonged direct UV will shift any epoxy over time. If it's in shade and still yellowing within the first two years, that's a batch issue and we'll replace the piece — email us with a photograph and your order number.

Cork backing can trap moisture against a finished tabletop. Lift and air your coasters occasionally, and never store them stacked while damp. The mark is usually in the table's finish, not the resin.

Send us a photograph. Small chips are filled with UV resin and re-polished in the studio — usually within a week, and for most pieces we do it free within the first year.

A one-metre board on birch weighs around nine kilos. Use a French cleat rated to at least 20kg, and for concrete walls use sleeve anchors rather than plastic plugs. Every commission ships with the correct hardware fitted.
